About
My name is Abigail. Most people call me Abi.
I started making pottery in 2023, during my BFA at U of M.
What started as some simple handbuilding projects slowly became a full blown obsession, and the last year of my degree I took soley ceramics courses.
I graduated in spring 2025, and have been independently continuing my learning since then. I also started teaching pottery in 2025 which has been very fun.
I have always been a creative person, since I was a child. I would craft in my room for hours. Then I got into drawing, then in high school into painting and videography, then during my BFA into painting and printmaking . . . it’s always something.
Ceramics is special because of it’s somatic and tactile nature. It is also an ancient art form. The process becomes very ritualistic. You can’t be on your phone cause your hands are full of mud. It’s both an art form and the creation of functional objects. It’s usually done in a community space. There are so many things that make it so unique.
I am looking forward to all I still have to learn. <3
